Representative projects:

Invested by SIIC and China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited ("China Baowu"), Shanghai Baoshan Renewable Energy Utilization Center Project ("Baoshan Project") stretches over 33 acres and costs 3.041 billion RMB.  Baoshan Project is designed to have a 3,000-ton-per-day solid waste incineration capacity and an 800-ton-per-day wet waste treatment capacity, and is expected to generate 8,000 GWh of electricity per year. Ever since Shanghai started implementing garbage sorting, Baoshan Project is the first domestic waste end disposal facility to be built that treats solid waste and wet waste in a combined way. The Project is to work as a way out of surrounding-area domestic waste disposal. By raising waste reclamation rate and improving the city's infrastructure, it is of great significance for Shanghai to achieve its goal of "zero land-filling for domestic waste". Designed to the highest international standards, Baoshan Project is armed with first-class technology and equipment, and executes the most strict emission standards. Also a neighbor-friendly plant, the Project would generate no odor and have no transport vehicle visible. It is also designed to have the function of education, training, culture activities and sports, and will be completely open to public in the future.

Baoshan Project is currently under construction, and is expected to commence operation in 2022.

Wuhan Hanxi Wastewater Treatment Co., Ltd. is a joint venture company. Its shareholders are SIIC Environment Holdings Co., Ltd., SIIC Environment Holdings (Wuhan) Co. ltd. and Wuhan Urban Drainage Development Co., Ltd. The total investment amount is about 1.2 billion. The investment was processed in two phases. The investment amount for phase I is RMB 463 million and the investment amount for phase II is RMB 720 million. The capacity is 400,000 tons/day for phase I and 600,000 tons/ day for phase II. The capacity is expected to be 800,000 tons/day in the next 2-3 years. This project is the largest wastewater treatment plant in central. The main process is a modified A2/O biological treatment process.

Hanxi Wastewater Treatment Plant currently serves west part of the main city in Hankou. The service area extends from Xinhua Road in the east, to Wujiashan Taiwanese Investment Zone near Han River in the waste, and to the river embankment in the north, with a service area of 176.7km2. The long-term service population will reach 1.725 million. The mean process Hanxi Wastewater plant uses is a modified A2/O biological treatment process. The modified A2/O biological reactor adds a selective zone (pre-anoxic zone) in front of the anaerobic zone of the conventional A2/O process. The returned sludge from secondary tank and 10% of the wastewater enter the selective zone. The residence time is about 20 to 30 minutes. The microorganisms use about 10% of the influent organic matter to remove the return nitrate nitrogen and eliminate the adverse effects of nitrate on the anaerobic tank, in order to ensure the stability of anaerobic process and improve efficiency of phosphorus removal. At the same time, the modified A2/O biological treatment process retains the reflux of the mixed liquor in the conventional A2/O process, thus ensuring the denitrification effect. The sludge aerobic fermentation workshop in Hanxi adopts high-temperature aerobic fermentation technology to decompose unstable organics through microbial activities, and uses continuous high-temperature process generated in microbial metabolism to kill pathogenic bacteria and weed seeds, helping moisture removal. All the sludge is detoxified to harmless products and achieved the 3R (Recycle, Reuse and Reduce) rules. The deodorizing system treats waste odor molecules by using biological membranes specially cultivated on the biological filler in the biological filter.

The company passed environmental management system certification, quality management system certification and occupational health and safety management system certification (ISO 14001, 9001 &18001). Through advanced technology accumulation, excellent team and its operation methods, Hanxi Company has successively obtained the Advanced Wastewater Treatment Operation Company in Wuhan and Wuhan City's “Eleventh Five-Year” Advanced Environmental Protection Group.

The capacity of the Mudanjiang Wastewater Treatment is 200,000 tons/day, including a two Stage wastewater treatment and a sludge treatment.

The 1st Stage of the Mudanjiang Wastewater Treatment Plant was put into operation in 2003. It is the first high-latitude wastewater treatment plant in China. The capacity of 1st Stage of the project is 100,000 tons/day. The main process it uses is A/O process. The effluent meets the national Level I Grade B standards for wastewater discharge. It’s increased the centralized treatment rate from 0% to 40% in Mudanjiang City, ending the history of the direct discharge of domestic wastewater.

The 2nd Stage was put into operation in 2015. The capacity is 100,000 tons /day. It uses the A2/O process and meets Level I Grade B wastewater discharge national standard. The wastewater treatment rate in Mudanjiang City reaches 87% after the operation of 2nd Stage, achieving the requirements of the state as 80%.

The capacity of sludge treatment of Mudanjiang City Wastewater Treatment Plant is 150 tons / day. It mainly deals with sludge produced by the Mudanjiang Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant with a process of thermal hydrolysis + anaerobic digestion to realize sludge reduction, stabilization and harmless treatment. The biogas generated in anaerobic process will be used for recycling process, effectively reducing operating costs. The project has a far-reaching significance to help optimize the ecological environment and develop sustainable social economy in Mudanjiang City.

Harbin Taiping Wastewater Treatment covers an area of 16 mu and has a total construction area of 6,400 m2. The construction began on June 6, 2004 and was completed on August 30, 2005, with a very short construction period of only 14 months. The commissioning started in the same year on October 9, and the trial operations began on December 1. In early 2006, it passed the environmental assessment and inspection by the Environmental Protection Bureau of Heilongjiang Province. It began its official operation on February 15, 2006.

Taiping Wastewater Treatment has the shortest construction (14 months, including 3 months winter) in the same-scale wastewater treatment plants in the Northeast China. It was the fastest launched project in 2004 and the largest domestic water treatment plant with the lowest investment by BOT mode at that time in the Northeast China. It charged the lowest wastewater treatment service fees at that time. It used the highest percentage of self-owned IPRs in domestic wastewater treatment plants.

Taiping Wastewater Treatment Plant is uses a secondary biochemical treatment process and A/O denitrification process with a capacity of 325,000 m3/d. Since put into operation in 2006, all water discharge indicators of Taiping Wastewater Treatment have achieved the national wastewater level I Grade B emission standards. Through technical cooperation with Harbin Institute of Technology, the operating process is optimized to make it more suitable for the low temperature weather in northern China, ensuring the safety and stability of the effluent quality and complying with the discharge standards.

There was no violation that happened since the operation of Taiping Wastewater Treatment, all final effluent has met the discharge standards, which help guarantee the water quality of Songhua River and make contribution to the protection of water body and reduction of water pollution. The success of Taiping project symbolizes that Harbin has mature experience in the market-oriented municipal infrastructure operation. This project becomes a good example for other cities in Heilongjiang province.
