Shanghai SIIC Baojingang Environmental Resources Technology Co., Ltd
Shanghai SIIC Baojingang Environmental Resources Technology Co., Ltd. was founded on 27 September 2019 with RMB 1.1 billion in registered capital by Shanghai Industrial Investment (Holdings) Co., LTD and China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited. Rooted in green circular economy and energy utilization, the company is committed to building a synergistic system that integrates waste treatment, energy conversion, and ecological improvement..
Its flagship asset, the Baoshan Renewable Energy Utilization Center, occupies 203 mu (approximately 135,000 square meters) in northern part of Baoshan District. It is the first facility built after Shanghai’s waste-sorting mandate to co-process dry and wet municipal waste in a single complex, simultaneously achieving harmless waste treatment and clean energy production. The WTE Center is designed to treat 3,000 tons/ day of dry waste and 800 tons/day of wet waste, with an annual power generation capacity of about 800 million kWh. It officially entered commercial operation in September 2023.
Aligned with the "city-friendly" concept, the WTE Center adopts a "de-industrialized" layout for its process halls and operational systems, ensuring seamless integration with the surrounding natural landscape. Both the main process halls and transportation roads are fully enclosed, effectively eliminating issues related to noise, odor leakage and visible waste transportation. Meanwhile, the rooftop park and surrounding pocket gardens not only soften the industrial skyline but also increase green coverage and reduce the carbon footprint, creating a modern and pleasant ecological facility.
At its core, the WTE Center runs a single, synchronized line for dry and wet waste. Wet organics are mechanically pressed, separated, and sent to anaerobic digesters that turn them into biogas; the gas is co-fired with refuse-derived fuel in high-efficiency boilers. Combustion efficiency tops 85 % and both thermal efficiency and emission control meet advanced international standards, fully demonstrating the combined advantages of harmlessness, reduction, and resource recovery.
